The History of Blackburn's Steak House
historyphoto.jpg Blackburn’s Steakhouse is so named because of it’s prominent waterfront location at what has historically been named “Blackburn’s Landing” in downtown Huntsville.

Blackburn’s Landing has undergone numerous changes throughout the past 100 plus years as evidenced by the pictoral history in the main entrance hallway of the restaurant.

At the turn of the 1900’s, Blackburn’s Landing was the site of the Huntsville Boat Works. The Boat Works were in operation until a great fire in 1940 that burnt the Boat Works to the ground. This was replaced years later by Blackburn’s Marina that was operated on the site for many years with a full service marina and rental cottages.

In 1990 the whole of Blackburn’s Landing was redeveloped into a retail, office and restaurant complex, of which it still is today.

Currently, as well as Blackburn’s Steakhouse, next door is the very popular, casual dining restaurant, The Cottage Waterfront Grill that has been in operation since 1994. On the second floor above the restaurants are office spaces of which the local, very popular radio station, Moose FM broadcasts from.

Blackburn’s Steakhouse has been open since February 2008 and has been impressing regular customers and one-time guests alike with it’s warm ambiance, friendly service and outstanding food from the kitchen of Head Chef, Steve Somerset.
